MUSIC INDUSTRY RESEARCH - HALF TERM

Research everything you can about EMI and an independent label of your choice including:
History
Ethos
Main artists
How successful they are (statistics)
How they produce, distribute and market music
How they target/prevent music piracy
DUE IN: Monday 1st November

TV Drama - Half term assignment

Your half term assignment is as follows:

Research the state of drama production and broadcast within the British television industry at the present time and write an essay summing up your findings in answer to the following title question:

'Drama on British TV is the best it's ever been'. Discuss.

Use the following prompt questions to guide you (include comment on at least 4 points):

  • How much money is spent on tv drama? (By the BBC/itv as a whole? on specific programmes? Is it worth it?)
  • How popular is Drama as a television medium - how does it do in the ratings?
  • What are broacasters doing to engage and draw in audiences?
  • Are American tv dramas ususrping british ones on our screens? Why are they so successul?
  • What are the most successful British tv dramas on at the moment? Why?
  • What makes a successful british drama? Analyse specific examples.

Sunday Night is Drama Night

David Tennant in Single Father, Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey and David Morrissey in ThorneThe leaves are turning a burnished red and the air is cold and crisp - autumn is here. Hooray! This means that after a long summer of pretty rubbish television the major broadcasters will suddenly decide to throw huge amounts of quality programming at us all at once. And Sunday night is the traditional spot for the best and highest quality drama.
The question is who will win the battle of the Sunday Night TV dramas this year?...
